SnowPi RGB

A while ago, a Kickstarter project caught my eye, SnowPi RGB, an add-on board for the Raspberry Pi and Micro:Bit.

The Snowman board is kitted out with 12 neopixels for colour changing goodness, and thought it would be a good project to try with my daughter now she is getting into programming the micro:bit.

I decided to back the project which easily hit its target and was delivered last week.

As a family project, I had to wait until half term to try it out. The micro:bit adapter bolted on, allowing the snowman add on board to stand up.

Using the getting started guide on https://snowpi.xyz we configured the snowman as a neopixel strip and could then be used.

We have been using rainbow colours, and different colours on button presses. It’s a lot of fun and so easy to use, even for a 6yr old. In fact here she is giving her own tutorial.

We can’t wait for Christmas so we can display the SnowPi, the hard part is going to be choosing which routine to run on it.

An example of one of our routines, rotating colours on button press.
